How Full Figure Shapewear and Firm Shapewear Changed My Life!
It may seem odd to you that I talk about shapewear as much as I do. Stop everything else you are doing, because this is a lengthy story. So sit tight.
Well, like most American Women, I love Oprah. Who doesn’t A down and out woman rises to fame to go on and conquer TV becoming one of the most richest people in the world. It isn’t surprising that besides Michael Jackson, it’s the name Oprah that children and women worldwide recognize.
So I also was a chunky child. OK maybe I wasn’t huge, but when everyone at school was trying to stay under a hundred pounds, my one-hundred and twenty five pound weight definitely made me feel insecure. So it’s only natural that I didn’t go to the school dance, participated in sports or go on my first date till I was 22. Basically I avoided any and all situations which might necessitate wearing an outfit that would stick to my slightly chunky frame.
So when everyone was out being young and restless, I was sitting at home and watching reruns of Oprah on the local tv station. Let me tell you- I loved Oprah.
So you can probably tell that I was relieved beyond doubt when I came across an Oprah episode where Spanx creator, Sara Blakely, is waving her footless pantyhose about! . She’s talking about footless pantyhose, slimming apparel, and much more. So I Google her. And I find the answer to everything I’ve ever wanted- Full Figure Shapewear! I feel like I’ve discovered gold! As I dedicate the next three hours to scouring the internet for any and all information concerning shapewear, I come across an article which talks about shapewear of the 18th century. It seems that shapwear of the 18th century is actually synonymous with the foundation garment. Basically the corsets and the brassieres of the 18th century are comparable to today’s firm shapewear. Thankfully today’s shapewear is not as uncomfortable as corsets and brassieres were. In fact, contrary to popular perception, when I wear Firm Shapewear I don’t feel constricted at all. I feel light and without a care. My posture improved, I was able to go on dates without worrying about bumps sticking out in the wrong places, wear white pants, and look pretty great in just about anything.
And you wouldn’t believe, once I got my confidence, I began to want to look EVEN better. So basically, once I started wearing firm Shapewear, I began to want to push my body to improve. I started going to the gym instead of eating out at lunch. I engaged in healthier eating habits due to an increased love of my being. I stopped drinking alcohol. I quit smoking. All I needed was that feeling of ‘not worrying’ constantly about my weight. Slimming Apparel did that for me. Once I was comfortable in my clothes I was able to completely transform my lifestyle.
I mean I guess you could debate that it’s actually my love of Oprah that transformed my life. Because if I hadn’t watched Oprah religiously I may have missed that iconic episode where Sara Blakely showed up with her footless pantyhose.
So tell me. Was it Oprah or Shapewear that did the trick?
